Paula Patton
Paula Patton was the daughter of Joyce
(Vanraden) and Charles Patton. Her father is African-American and her mother
who is caucasian, has German, English, and Dutch her ancestry. Her family lived
just across the street from the 20th Century Fox lot as she grew up and she was
a huge film buff since her early days. Her mother, too, who liked good movies,
was a schoolteacher, and her father was a lawyer. Paula said that she attempted
to get away as an innocent child by "pretending" to pretend to be
someone else than. It's no surprise that she was a part of Hamilton Magnet Arts
High School productions. Her most loved role was "Abigail" from
"The Crucible". However, she went on to pursue a film degree at the
University of Southern California in an summer program. She got a 3-month job
making documentary films for PBS. As a result, she was able to serve as a
production assistant on documentaries on TV and also on Howie Mandel’s talk
show. In the following time, she was able to make documentary segments for Medical
Diaries 2000 on Discovery Health Channel. Paula states she loves what she is
doing but her goals were the same. She studied acting and switched gears to be
an actor. She became a huge hit with her roles, including major ones in Hitch
(2005), Idlewild (2006) as well as the leading female role in Deja Vu (2006)
opposite Denzel.
